Paint Your Nails With Super Glue

Fakt: If you break a finger or toenail, super glue is an excellent way to mend the break until it grows out.

Bain's Fax Machine

Fakt: The fax machine was invented before the telephone. Alexander Bain invented a process in 1846 (that was modified later by Frederick Bakewell) which allowed a prepared image on metal plate to be codified and transmitted via telegraph wire and then recieved and decoded onto a chemically prepared page that changed colour under the influence of electricity. There were difficulties in properly synchronising the two devices so they were at the same point on the page so that the image would come out properly. Perhaps such difficulties delayed the use of fax machines until contemporary times.

Of Apple Laptops

Fakt: The 1.5 Ghz 15" PowerBook with Sudden Motion Sensor can survive being ejected through a glass window from a moving vehicle onto hard rocks with little more than a few superficial scrapes and dings. I'm not sure of the exact decelerations involved, nevertheless I'm impressed on a first-hand basis.

(note: I wonder if the older Titanium PowerBooks are bulletproof?)

World of Fakts

Thought I might write about something that interests me; random bits of facts.

I suppose I can cite "Harvie Krumpet" as somewhat of an inspiration for writing down fakts.
